One Million Program-Aponjon
Aponjon is a mobile phone based health service for expecting and new mothers in Bangladesh under the auspices of Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action (MAMA). Aponjon had launched its national scale operation in August, 2012 in more than 20 districts of Bangladesh. Its 500,000 subscriber landmark was reached by 29 May 2014; then within four months (on 21 September 2014) we reached the milestone of One Million Aponjon subscriber base.
It shows an exponential growth in Aponjon subscribers’ acquisition rate. Indeed, this growth would not have been possible without the patronization from USAID/Bangladesh, Corporate Founding Partners at national and international levels, MAMA Global Partners, MaMoni HSS and Outreach Partners, Telecommunication Partners & Technical Support Providers, Communication Partners, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOH&FW), Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Dnet.
To commemorate this achievement and to honour the effort and contribution of all the development partners, a celebration event will be organized on 05 February, 2015 aiming to express the determination to take it further ahead in the coming days with support from all partners.
Mr. Syed Monjurul Islam, Honorable Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh has kindly consented to grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Deen Mohd. Noorul Huk, Director General, Directorate General of Health Services, Md. Nur Hossain Talukder, Director General, Directorate General of Family Planning and Ms. Melissa Jones, Director, Office of Population, Health, Nutrition and Education (OPHNE), USAID Bangladesh will also be present as special guests.
